I have a 2007 Gretch 5120 electromatic. The stock gretsch pickups were very muddy so I finally decided to swap the pickups with some TV Jones. I purchased the Brian Setzer pickups, a new harness with the treble bleed option. The tubes and dowel kit was also purchased which makes the job a lot of fun. After the swap, my only problem was my guitar had some crazy buzzing going on. I spent the next 2 weeks trying to fix that buzz issue by changing the stock tunomatic bridge to a stainless steel compton bridge. I also purchased a brass nut. After watching a million videos on how to set up a guitar’s intonation etc etc I have finally got rid of the buzz... or at least to the point where it no longer drives me nuts. So the pickups sound fantastic. I did some before and after recordings (prior to the bridge and nut replacement). A huge difference. Way way better. At first I was intimidated by what was involved in this job...but now I can say I know my Gretsch 5120 completely. I have torn that thing apart and put it back together and it was a really fun and enjoyable project. I am no longer intimidated by anything about my guitar. Thank you TV Jones for the excellent pickups and the tools and videos to make it possible.
