T-Armond Neck - Soapbar Mount

  • T-Armond - Neck - Soapbar Mount

Our version of the original DeArmond 2000 pickups are more controlled in the high frequencies, taking away earth shattering ice-pickiness while keeping that "off-the-rails" attitude that these pickups are known for. Of course, at lower gain levels they sing with unmatched fidelity and clarity. Tom designed our T-Armond set after Brian Setzer's ‘56 Silver Jet that was used on his Dirty Boogie album. That guitar spent many hours on Tom's workbench over the years.

The T-Armonds are in a league of their own with crystal clear highs, bellowing lows, and a tastefully controlled midrange. They perform really well with and without a lot of gain. Some say they sound like tele pickups on steroids.

What I needed!

My go-to is a Baja Telecaster (MIM, 4 way switch with series and parallel plus out of phase switch too) and never liked the neck pickup much - it always felt too weak compared to the bridge, and rather thin. So it became an always bridge guitar - a bit boring. I tried removing the cover - bit better. Then routing and putting in a P-90 - good pickup but way too different to match well - boomy and quite farty with gain. But the T-Armond is just fantastic! It's very clear and well rounded for cleans and it's got great output. With gain it holds up really well too. I haven't even done any fine tuning of individual magnets yet and I'm loving it. The only thing that stinks is that now I want a TVJones Starwood bridge PU, and my wallet will not be as happy as I will be!

T-Armond Neck Soapbar Mount

I put this in a Fender TC-90. Great overall tone qualities, very even, clear and articulate. Has a hum because it's a single coil, but I don't care, the tones are worth a little hum when I'm in between songs. I was looking for Pete Townsend tones from "Who's Next", and this has it in spades! Thinking about one for the bridge even though I already have a Powertron Plus in there that just kills. Great pickup, highly recommended

The voicing of our new model.

Shorty after installing the T-Armond set I realised that they were the finishing touch to our latest model at Orthius Guitars called “The Black Sun” inspired by Chirs Cornells’ Gretsch Silverjet tone. They bark. They shimmer. They grunt. They are perfect.

Super Tone!!

Bought this pickup because I wanted to try something different in my Telecaster, while maintaining the classic single coil sound. The T-Armond superceded all my expectations, and gave a new flavor to my tone; it's open, warm, and articulate as all get out. Undoubtedly, the right choice for anyone looking to take their tone to the next level!

I purchased a set in the P90 mount and they fit like a glove. The tone is outstanding and I love the hum canceling when both pups are engaged. Clear, deep and full of punch.
