The name ‘MeloDuende’ is a blend of ‘Melo’ the French term for melody, and ‘Duende’, a gypsy term used to describe a ‘jam’ — when people communicate with music, not words. This sounds poetic, but don’t be fooled. Bertrand Dafour is willing to build an aluminum custom nightmare if that’s what the client wants. Bertrand Dufour is a true artisan who describes himself as the madman behind each work of art. His MeloDuende guitar shop is located in the heart of Burgundy, France. Growing up in machine shops and later studying cabinetry, guitar building feels natural to Dufour. He enjoys using his highly specialized welding skills to build semi-hollow guitars with bespoke bracing. Each guitar is tailored to order; all components are selected prior to the build.
