The tubes and wooden dowell were not long enough to extend to the neck pick up opening, which is a requirement for repairing a vintage Tennessean from the early 60s. I was able to complete the repair using other tools but made mistakes in the process (pot washer fell into guitar during installation) which resulted in a pot washer not installed.
These tubes and the dowel are an ingenious solution to wiring changes on your Gretsch. Very simply, you can't do the job without them.
These tubings work good, but one problem with the vol./tone pot 1/4" solid shaft tubing connection is that the retainer nut won't be able to be removed with the tubing on the shaft. The only way is to pull the tubing off, remove the nut, then replace the tubing to proceed with the project. This is not difficult as long as you don't lose the pot inside the guitar!
The product is well made, easy to use, and reasonably priced. But the shipping seemed high and a lower cost option would be nice.
I should have purchased this kit years ago. It makes hollow and semi-hollow bodies so much easier to work with.
