Magna'Tron Bridge Humbucker Mount

  • magna’tron - bridge - humbucker Mount

The Magna’Tron blends single-coil twang with unique Filter'tron & DeArmond influence. Although it can sound just like a single-coil, it is built with two coils (humbucking). The dual-coils provide a hint of compression on the high-end and no 60-cycle hum. One part of the recipe that makes the Magna'Tron so special is it's staggered cylinder “Fender-style” magnets.

Bright and chirpy with quick attack and exceptional pop and clarity. The Magna’tron delivers a unique mix of single-coil spank meets Filter’Tron style twang with no hum! Slightly brighter and tighter on the bass than the TV Classic.

The Humbucker Mount is a direct drop-in replacement for any standard sized humbuckers. This pickup ships with mounting screws and springs for adjustment. To learn more about the Humbucker Mount, check out the Tech Specs tab.

  • Output/Power

DC Resistance is not entirely an indicator of true pickup output, although it can be helpful.

    Bridge: DCR - 8.0k / Inductance - 2.92H

    Neck: DCR - 4.8k / Inductance - 1.24H

    Wiring Notes

This pickup is shipped with 4-conductor wire but is ready for standard 2-conductor connection. The extra red and green wires come soldered together and taped off - to split coils, send these to ground.

Splitting coils is generally not recommended with the Magna’Tron because of its natural tight and bright sound, however some may enjoy it. Additionally, the 4-Conductor wire is convenient for custom switching i.e. pickups combined in series or parallel.

    Helpful Notes

Humbucker Replacement:The Humbucker Mount is a direct drop in replacement for any standard sized humbuckers. The change in mount does not change the sound of the pickup.

Never Played it

Never played it. The pickup was too deep to fit in a swimming pool routed strat. The pickup search continues.

Absolutely great sound, such a difference from the pickups that came in my 2008 SG. Like a completely different guitar.

thought i'd try something different

....i recently acquired a stunning black american standard tele with dual humbuckers. i installed a set of suhr thornbuckers but, after installing the same humbuckers in an american standard strat, i was forced to conclude that i am just not a humbucker guy. so, i went looking for an alternative. i have a cabronita tele made by a local builder - jesse brown - that sports two gretsch filtertrons so i decided to look at tv jones, since they make filtertrons that fit a humbucker slot, and ordered one for the bridge position. at first i found it excessively bright but once i changed the pot from 500k to 250k, i was happy. i have half a dozen teles (a couple are g&l tribute series ASATs) and i like the fact that each one has something different to offer. this one is my number one, thanks to the unique tone of the magna-tron.

Middle pick up for my sg3 between 2 PAFs and a 6 way switch

Magna'Trons are Supreme

This is my third Magna'Tron purchased and I cant say it enough, they are everything you like about single coil sound but bigger !!! I truly do not understand how they are a humbucker. If you are a fan of single coils but want the sound "bigger" these are for you. My neck position sound is now useful....its not a dark, muddy mess, like most. Flip to the neck position and its like you plugged in a different guitar. These are just as bright and chimey as single coil but with more bass and when you add an overdrive pedal, you can achieve things a single coil won't do. After the past 25 years, I have stopped playing single coils all together and use these ONLY ! Do yourself a favor and try it, you won't be sorry. Thanks TV JONES !!!!!
